Color: some sexual dimorphism - male more red in the belly region, female more golden colored
Behavior: hide in submersed roots of marginal trees along river

reproduction/life span

Breeding: breeds at 4.5 in. " become territorial when breeding
Incubation: male does oral incubation of eggs " eggs will not hatch unless he does, he may be protecting eggs from bacteria
Offspring: parents care for fry the first days " fry feed on mucous secretions from parents skin
