Echolocation: when flying in darkness utter high-pitched buzzing (simple echolocation)
Roosting: in caves in colonies as large as 9,000

Lifespan: record 22 yrs. in captivity
Mating: June through September
Gestation: 4 months
Births: October through December
Birth: 1 (twins are rare); females carry young at first then leave at roost
