Behind the Scenes Encounters: One Paw Tours Get a chance to visit "staff only" areas around the zoo and see exhibits from the other side of the rail. Learn how animal care staff keep our animals happy and healthy.
Discover Birds!
Noon, 1:30 p.m. & 3 p.m.
(Weather permitting - Concerts may preempt some shows)
This is a free flight show that includes birds like hawks, owls, vultures, eagles and special appearances by some non-raptor species. Birds are trained to exhibit natural behaviors such as hunting and feeding in an entertaining manner. Free with regular zoo admission.
Insect Zoo
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Arthropods from around the world are on display in a small building that is open on three sides. In areas adjacent to the building there are displays and freestanding cages/aquaria of arthropods. Staff and ZooTeen volunteers are available to engage visitors and answer questions. Free with regular zoo admission.
Pygmy Goat Petting Area
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
This area is an opportunity for visitors to have animal contact. Visitors of all ages are welcome to pet and groom the pygmy goats. Staffed by ZooTeens. Free with regular zoo admission.
Tidepool Naturalist
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
In the Steller Cove exhibit, ZooTeens (youth volunteers) and ZooGuides (adult volunteers) will be on hand to present short demonstrations, provide hands on contact with biofacts and provide information at the tidepool exhibit. Free with regular zoo admission.
Animal Talks
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Free Tuesday: 1 p.m. * close
ZooGuides will be on hand to provide visitors with short informational presentations and answer questions about zoo animals. Free with regular zoo admission.
Keeper Talks
11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
At scheduled times, zookeepers will be on hand to provide short presentations and answer visitor's questions about animals in their care. Free with regular zoo admission.
Little Zoo 
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
This area is designed for young children. Animals such as rabbits, snakes and ducks are on display and some are available for touching. Artifacts such as eggs, shells, skins and bones area also on display adjacent to each animal. This area strives to teach young children about fur, feathers and scales and to treat animals gently and with respect. Staffed by ZooTeens. Free with regular zoo admission.
