Endangered Animals at our Zoo | ![]() |
![]() Sixty-nine species of threatened and endangered animals reside at our zoo and we participate in national and international Species Survival Plans to help insure they are around forever. Our Center for Species Survival is an off-exhibit breeding facility for shy species that do not do well in zoo exhibits. It is home to five species of rare primates and five species of birds. The Oregon Zoo was an early pioneer in programs for environmental enrichment--which keep our animals mentally and physically fit. Many scientific studies have been conducted by our zoo researchers. Current research projects include a multi-year study on elephant reproduction. You can help save endangered species, too. Well tell you 101 things you can do to save animals and animal habitats. |
