Wouldnt it be great to plan a field trip that teaches kids about transportation, geography and animals all at the same time! Amtrak and the Oregon Zoo have partnered to create a program that is convenient and fun for school and youth groups.
Make Tracks to the Zoo combines Amtraks Schools on Trains program with The Oregon Zoos ZooSnooze program. Take the train to visit the zoo just for the day or an overnight stay.
ZooSnooze
Here is your group's chance to see the Zoo in a whole new light...moonlight! Its a fun and educational overnight experience for your group of 15-75 to see our animals under the cloak of darkness - one of their liveliest times. If touring downtown for the day dont worry, the zoo will transport your luggage upon request.
Schools on Trains
Travel aboard Amtrak Cascade between Bellingham and Portland. Last year over 5,000 program participants experienced train travel to destinations such as the Oregon Zoo!
TriMets Class Pass
Ride Max Light Rail from the train station to the zoo. Its an easy and economical way to travel and a great way to introduce students to Portlands transit system.
