ZooWatch in the Classroom

Oregon State Content Standards

Activities that you can use

Teacher Resources

The goal of ZooWatch is to make science an activity that is easily understandable by people of all ages.

The Scientific Method that is used on ZooWatch is easily adapted to the classroom. Students of all ages can use the same six step investigation method to study the behavior of classroom animals, create classroom experiments, monitor events on the school grounds or study nature on a field trip to a park or other natural area.

Naturally, ZooWatch activities use science skills, but also rely heavily on math skills for data analysis, and language arts, geography and public speaking can easily be incorporated. ZooWatch can be used to teach many of the Oregon State Content Standards. We have listed the standards for math and science, but many of the language arts and social studies standards can also be incorporated.

As well, we have developed information about an activity that you can use in your own classroom, based on crickets.
