What's in this picture?
The rhinos may be outside, or they may be in the interior room of the rhino barn. The rhinos stay inside when it's chilly outside. The ball on a string in the interior room is a toy for environmental enrichment. The upright logs are rhino scratching posts. The posts are a little over 5 ft. tall, to give you an idea of scale in the photo.
Seeing the rhinos on the cam is hit and miss If at first you dont succeed, bookmark this page and try again! The cam is aimed at the spot where they hang most often, but they sometimes move out of range.
Goodbye, Imara! Our young female black rhino was born September 26, 1997 to Mother Miadi and Father Pete. Because rhinos are one of the world's most endangered mammals, Imara has moved to the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls, S.D. to eventually be mated with a rhino of similar age.
