# 18: Participate in Packy's Elephant Walk & Fun Run on April 14th

In the spirit of Packys 40th birthday, the Oregon Zoo is having a Packys Elephant Walk and Fun Run. It will consist of a 4 mile run and a 5 kilometer fitness walk.
The run will begin at 8:00 am and the walk will begin at 8:15.
The cost of Packys Elephant Walk and Fun Run is $12 for adults (over 11) and $8 for kids.
These prices will be increased the day of the event to $15 for adults (over 11) and $10 for kids.
Drop bags will be provided at registration to put extra clothing or belongings.
There will be limited parking the day of the event, so if possible please carpool or take the bus or max.

# 29: Sample Packy's own cake, made with peanut butter and carrots

Packy Cake for People

Makes 2 8-inch layers or 24 cupcakes
(this recipe is great for beginning cooks!)

• 2 cups buttermilk
• 2 cups all-bran cereal
• 3/4 cup brown sugar
• 3 large eggs
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp allspice
• 1/4 tsp nutmeg
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp salt
• 1/2 cup salad oil
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup shredded carrots

  Combine buttermilk and cereal until cereal is soft. Add remaining ingredients and mix well until smooth.
  Pour into greased and floured cake pans or cupcake cups and bake at 350 for 35-40min for cakes and 20-25min for cupcakes.
  Cool completely and frost with Peanut Butter Frosting (recipe follows)

Peanut Butter Frosting

• 2 cups peanut butter
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 1 cup honey
• 1 cup cream
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp vanilla extract

  Combine peanut butter, powdered sugar and honey and beat until well blended. Add cream while beating and whip until fluffy. Add vanilla and salt. Spread over top and sides of cake. Yum!

Zoo Doo is manufactured by the worlds most prolific herd of captive Asian elephants. The Oregon Zoos elephant breeding program is a model for zoos and conservation programs everywhere.
The elephants have produced more than enough Zoo Doo to help put the bloom in our zoo gardens and wed like to share this gardeners magic with you.

Directions: Zoo Doo is a potent fertilizer (100% sun-dried manure), and it should be well mixed with sand, peat, vermiculite, soil or other planting medium. Zoo Doo should not exceed 1/3 of the mixture.
